Is there a thing as unisex toys?
Well, in the era of gender biased toothpastes, one shouldnt be surprised to find a gender specific (blue colour and pink colour) slate board (which serves the exact same purpose but are priced differently because pink plastic is more expensive than blue?) .
But do any of you really think it will ever matter to your 2 year old son/daughter?
I believe that kids that small are unaware of their gender identity yet. Unless we instill the gender difference and role or they are exposed to gender stereotyping. The colour codes for their toys are very much a part of stereotyping. Till then they will play along and grow up to be an individual who sees others as 'people' .
I also believe that kids should grow up to learn and believe that they are all one and the same - human beings. Only then will they learn to accept and respect people for what they are.
