Me and Him

We strike a perfect balance. .

He is a left brain guy and I'm a right brain girl.

He world is math and logic while mine is filled with imagination and art.

He thinks with his brain and I with my heart.

He acts his age while I struggle to ever grow up.

He likes spicy food when I think anything sweet is good.

He prefers to curl up on the couch while I like to feel the wind in my hair.

He is an introvert and I, just the opposite; Jiving at every chance.

He likes to draw and I like to paint. He loves music and I love to dance.

The secret is; We never had to compromise, we just picked up each others interests from the start.

We followed the momentary instincts and enjoyed each others company so much so that there was never a "my way - your way" but it was always "our way" .

May Flowers

This sea of sadness seems endless

Turning life cold as winter breeze.

People falling like automn leaves

As the world watch, clueless.

All it took was a tiny virus

To bring the world to its knees.

Doors close, flourishing cities freeze

Leaving fields and parks lifeless.

An year has gone by

It's rained sorrow for many days.

As we learn to adapt to the new ways

We remember our past with a sigh.

Yet we hope for the skies to clear

And Believe in nature's powers.

If April showers bring May flowers

We'd soon say adieu to this fear.

Love in Life

Life is a merciless war field.

I fight friends and foes alike,

With a smile as my only shield.

Purpose - a wasteful wit, belike.

From all the battles fought,

Lessons are all there's to get

Some learned and some taught.

A few to never forget.

What hurts the most

Of all the wounds I endure,

Was the love that I once lost.

The gash that'll never cure.

I walked my path alone, in pain

As empty a heart as void can be,

Thought I'll never know love again.

Untill love found me.

Oh dragonfly

Oh dragonfly, are you lost?
Resting, all exhaust.
A drop of life, on a void white wall...
Decieved by the lights, you thrall, in this barren land of concrete.
At sunset, where shall you retreat?
Where's your home, I dare not ask.
For mine stands on the land that was once yours.

2020: Trail of Tragedy.

The year of a pandemic,

Marked more tragedy

In god's own country.

And all this new gimmick

Has left little realm

For a foreseen deluge to overwhelm.

First, Mountains moved, sky shattered

Left many lives scattered.

Buried under landslide,  their souls Searching for light.

Amongst the screams and wails

As they moved the mud in pails,

Uncovered the mortal remains of dreams perished.

With no time to recover, fate had more to unleash.

A bundle of misery to release.

In the dark of the night,

Came down a flight,

Carrying a hundred hopes

Aiming for a stretch amongst the slopes.

Coz, storm turned the vision blur,

Skipped half a mile, slipped and slid.

Off the runway and into the valley it skid.

So  traumatic that ones words may slur,

A scene did it  unveil

That turned a million faces pale.

And it rained and rained

for more days and night,

Drowned the land deep,

plunging people into heavy plight.

Sure shall this year's flood

Wash the land with tears of blood.

I

A letter so thin and short, yet powerful.
Standing on its on, completing a sentence by itself.
Yet the depth of its meaning is so dynamic,
it changes its perspective from person to person.
Who am I?
Words fall short,
For I'm far and beyond words can ever explore.

Vegetable Rhyme

Carrot, beetroot, tomato
These vegitables that we grow.
Eat 'em cooked; eat 'em raw
Eat at home or on the go.

Have 'em fresh; stirr some stew,
Juice them up or make a soup;
Daily drink this healthy scoop
For their vitamins make us a happy troop.

(A song written for my son)

Hang in there my friend (Quintain)

Depression is tough!
Been there done that.
Life will look rough
Hang in there and stir up a chat,
I'll listen, thats the fact.

I might not be at sight.
But let me know,
Be it an ant bite
Or you're caught in a bear claw,
I care, I'll show.

All I want is you be fine
I'll do whatever,
Be at the other end of the line.
Together, lets cry a river
But alone - never!

The Secret of Our Marriage

It's been about 7 years but even now people ask if ours was a love marriage. We usually laugh and tell them the dramatic first meeting - how I was tricked into meeting a guy at the most unexpected moment of life and the conversation we had that later ended up in marriage.

It's obvious, we belong to the same village, studied in same school and were working in the same city (at that point of time); who would believe it was a well arranged "trap" ?😉

One thing is true, post engagment there was a solid one year time for us to get to know each other better. And, (quoting my dad's exact words) Kish was impressed by God know what 😐
But he knew just how to make me fall in love with him. Therefore, by the time it was our wedding, we looked (and felt) like the perfect couple in love.

Infact, the point is to keep it going. How do we do it? Well, we don't. We are just another normal couple. Normal in everywhich way.

We put smiling pics in facebook, we eat the food I cook, we have our owns ways of disagreements, we fall for each others sentiments...

The only secret is my fathers golden words : "whatever you have - be it joy or sorrow - it will belong to both of you equally".

Infatuation

Like the rose that blushes at the morning sun,
Like the breeze that brushes the leaves for fun,
Like the waves kissing a hopeful shore,
His heart beats for the women he adore.
Never to belong, never to be one,
All shall fade before it's begun.

Perfect Match

There's a me in you, there's a me in me, there's a me in everyone.

There's a you in you there's a you in me, there are a million you under the sun.

Yet, the souls search in every you and me for the right one.

A life well wasted

I can talk non-stop
But not with a mic in front.
I love art and craft
But none that can be sold.

I can write beautifully
But cant let anyone read.
I can churn a joke about anything in my head
But I'm scared of you laughing at me.

I can sing pretty well
But only in my most solitary moments
I sure loves to dance
But I get cold feet.

I have cracked every single interview and tests
But I have no job or salary.
I have dreams of empowering the less fortune
But cant get out of my own misfortune.

I have ambitions to reach the sky
But my feet are chained to earth.
The only achievement is
A life well wasted.

Not Misfortunes.

Life had its share of mischiefs with me.
Mischief, not misfortunes.
Friends took me for granted.
Available any time -
A shoulder to cry, and helping hand, partner in crime.
Yet, 'favours' weren't reciprocal.
They chose the way their luck played.
But mom told me not to step out of my line.
To be be straight forward and shine.
When in fact, experiences robed me off my sheen.

I was labbled, bullied and billittled.
For beliving, for behaving and being forbearing.
They made fun of my appearence,  my attitude, and my thoughts.
Even those memories hurts.
Yet my mom said, forgive and let go.
And I lived with the burns ever after.
Continued my quest for better friends, for freedom.
Gently brewed my wisdom.
Not misfortunes but life's mischiefes.

I didn't let any of it weigh me down.
I smiled, walked by and laughed with them.
Quietly turned them into lessons.
And preserved their essence.
I didn't let their actions grow on me.
I grew instead to rise above them.
Sacrifices and forgiveness are my traits - Habits hard to leave.
It's not misfortunes, just lifes mischief.
And I face them and move on.
For they dont have to define me, I found new meanings all along.

Words of a Classroom

Through the years, children comes and goes.
Good or bad, I remember all of those.
Some leave their names, some leave scars
I keep them all to see them return one day.
Some comes back as failure and some as super stars.
And run their fingers on what they've left behind.

Some shed tears and I've seen some smile
I don't judge, just watch meanwhile.
They walk through the ground and the corridors,
Peep through the windows and open doors.
Sit on a bench and gaze at my black n white walls.
Their names itched on a desk like how I'm itched to their memories.

Here's where they made friends and foes.
Apart from poems and pros,
Here's where they learnt life lessons.
And found new dimensions of emotions.
It's a joy to know my worth,
As a classroom, as a second home.

30

Brisk walking towards thirtys,
In search of new aims and hope.
But lost my smile somewhere in the mid twentys.

Without it how am I to cope?

Fair and Absolute

Theres no wind stronger than my sail.

Theres no tide tougher than my will.

Theres no journy crucial than my pursuit.

I keep going, I'm my captain - fair and absolute.

When SC lifts 497

If the movie "Life in a Metro" was released now, the whole stro3y of KK -SHIPLA SHETTY wouldn't have worked.
So basicaly what happens in the movie is. KK is already in a relation with his office staff bcz he hates his family life.  And then Shilpa one day meets a guy who tells her that he loves her and tried to start an affair but at the last moment shilpa says she has a husband and that shes not "that type of a woman".  When KK comes home he confesses that he is having an affair and asks it she can forgive. Then she says she met a guy too (just met, nothing happened) but the angry KK couldn't stand it and storms out. Later in the climax he comes back home weeping like a 5 year old who lost his pencil box and is accepted back by the wife - the sanskari indian pathni.

But hey the law has changed bro!

So if it was today,
Kk wud come and be like, "hey listen, so i have been sleeping with another woman hope you don't mind, even if u do I wont get punished you see. And shipla is like, thats ok honey, its only morally wrong not a crime. After all i met someone too.
And he will be like "oh. Great. Wait what the fuck dude?"
Shipla goes on " its not a crime baby, just morally wrong and we are both doing it anyway. See we are match made in heaven!"
Kk will say, whatever... Ok so i gotta go back. Have a dinner date with my gf. Seeya tmrw.

Life in a metro, 2018.

Anyway, the 497 overruled. I have not got complete sense of the whole thing yet. Im trying to figure it out yet.

So 497 basically punishes the guy who commits adultry. Not the woman bcz hey, we are woman. If you speak now we will dump a load of feminism on you so shh!
And so now they lift 497 so that there equality. Now neither man nor the woman is punishable. Yeiii!!!
So the guy or girl who was. cheated, what about them? Hey! Did your wife cheated then suck it up and goget a life, man... Wow! Equality.

But why vant they have equality by punishing both man and woman equally? Mind your words! The feminist are watching... You cant punish a woman. If you say one more word.... The truck is waiting outside bro! They will dump it all on your head!

I call a cheater a cheater. Not like i see some couple in the park and i know the girl has a husband and then i call out "ayii cheater..." No not that kind of it.

I mean law says if you cheat someone of your property or money or disguse as a chachi 420, you are a cheat and you will be punished.  Even for fancydress cimpetition i dont dress like chachi bcz u know... Section420.
But yeah, You can basically play your spouce emotions" life, family and everything but it's ok bcz you know its not a crime....
You can't punish someone if they are just morally wrong...

Adultry, you commit with the concent of your partner in crime. Thats ok. Bcz wife/husband at home is not a part of our private life, you see and we dont need their concent for this little affair tjsts going on here.  We commit adultry and go home and eat their chapathi bcz its now legal.

I had a discussion with my friends on this topic. I call it discussion, dont know what they call it.
I probably pissed them all off. Thats ok bcz its not a crime... I was enjoying.
And finally tbey wanted to somehow wrap it up and the only way they could do that was to agree with me. Even if they didn't want to.
So one of them finally said, I think adultry is a crime and they should all be punished. They should all be given capital punishment so they will get scared and think twice before doing it. And it should ultimately end.

I was happy. Bcz if its capital punishment, Then we are atleast sure that if they get punished once, they won't do it twice.

Here goes my blood donation story

I was scared of needles all my life so i avoided all possible hospital visits even if it was for bystanding. One day an ex colleague of mine turned up at work with an emergency request. His relative was in need of A+ blood.  Surprisingly, in an office with ~100 employees that day, i was the only possible match.

I couldnt say no because at such situations it becomes your responsibility.  So i was asked to perepare to go to the hospital. My details like age, health, height, weight, blood group and the like were collected and i was left to prepare myself to face the needle. And then the news came - i was declined. As myself that was a moment of relief not bcz i didnt want to help but because i didn't have to face my fear.

But like any normal person would feel, i was curious to know the reason.

"You ask Why?" My HR chuckled.
"You are underweight; they cant possibly draw out any blood from you."

😕

Time to give it back to you

My voice will startle you from your slumber.
You can hide.
You can run.
Take cover anywhere under the sun.

The game has only begun.
Trust me it'll be no fun
Coz i'll make you remember
Everything you have said and done.

You cant silence me anymore.
Or strangle me with your emotions
I have risen; I have reached the shore
To start a new revolution.

I'll make you pay.
You will have to obey.
For the time has come
And I wont keep mum.

There's gonna be fire
That'll burn you down to ash
Can't escape even if you desire.
It'll all happen in a flash.

The flood that opened our eyes

This is beyond my capacity to hold back.

My homeland - kerala was hit by an unexpected flood. The entire State (all the 14 districts) under red alert. People had to evacuate and there were limited options.

Some had to abandon their homes, some got stranded, and some even lost their lives. But surprisingly, there was a new kind of unity that was formed. Everyone held hand in hand and fought to get back on their feet.

They cordinated with each other to help those in need. Young and old, men and women were fighting the odds to save others lives. Malayalees both inside and outside kerala connected over the phone and internet and created a network for rescue operations. Apps were setup in no time to optimise the resources, raise alerts and direct aid to the people affected. They were literally on their toes - day and night. The State disaster management team was deployed at all possible points, men in uniforms were seen running over collapsing bridge, hanging from copters, swimming against the gushing water - all to save lives - with no fear of death.  The journalists of the State swung into action. Reported the reality in the real spirit. No rain could stop them, no landslide could scare them.

The fishermen community didn't wait for an invitation. They knew how to face the strong currents of the swelling rivers. Pulled out hundreds from the water to safety and returned form where they came. They prefered to be anonymous. No credits taken.
Even outside the State, the kind hearts came together to do whatever possible for their fellow people in kerala. There was help and support pouring in from all parts of the world (Bangalore, Hydrabad, Mumbai, punjab, Gulf... You name it) in cash and kind.
Personally witnessed NGOs, Students, and youngsters at Chennai travelling the length and breadth of the city to organize relief supplies. They were there collecting, arranging and re-arranging items to be sent to the many relief camps across kerala. Post shifts, they would stay back and pack the collections in seperate boxes and send them to their destinations.

Schools i know came forward and accepted the opportuniry to teach their students the value of kindness and empathy. People from all walks of life contributed their best for a good cause.

Thus a new lesson was learned. There is still hope for human race. All the goodness has not been lost.

You just need to be the spark to start a wildfire of kindness.
Kudos to the team effort! Kudos to all those who still safekeep the embers of empathy in their heart! Kudos to all those who refused any reason to stop them from doing the right thing at the right time.
You all turned into Gods for someone today. You can be proud for the rest of your lives.
